The BRIGHT Institute is dedicated to mechanism- and discovery-based science and structured to enable rapid translation of breakthroughs into patient care through molecular imaging, functional genomics and high throughput technologies. The Institute physically joins a variety of established Centers and Cores within the 7th floor of the new BJC Institute of Health Building, programmatically focusing on inter-disciplinary investigations in cancer.
The central innovation of the BRIGHT Institute proposal is to provide a centralized location for a unique mix of cross-disciplinary faculty with forward-looking interests in combining molecular imaging, functional genomics and high throughput technologies to address important questions in basic and translational cancer research. A major mission of the Institute is to facilitate the translation of basic research to the clinical setting.
The BRIGHT Institute will create new opportunities for the Washington University community in the areas of imaging and functional genomics, will promote bench to bedside research, and will strengthen programs already in place at Washington University.
